That looks just a little longer than the same mod I did with my Nino, although I had it flame cut and polished using laboratory glass. You will find a huge improvement in consistency and it keeps the beans fresher by loading only a couple of days worth each time.

The perspex is in there tight now, but glass is nicer to have. I'm going to find a long weight to put in it so I can still pull it out with the hopper only a third filled.

Where did you get the perspex? I've been thinking of doing this, currently have a polycarbonate glass with the bottom cut off. Due to the slightly conical shape it doesn't lend itself to dropping a weight on top of the beans.

I carefully measured the inside diameter of the hopper support ring on my grinder and chose a borosilicate tube which had an external diameter 2mm smaller than that. I then wrapped the bottom of the glass tube with a 1cm wide felt adhesive tape that I had in my shed. So there is no friction- fits snugly and the felt helps prevent rattles.

My mods from today...

This is the mod I did today on my commercial LSM. I did need to use a lathe for the collar to fit the conical 'hopper' that actually is just a rain collecor/measure device found for 5 bucks in the hard ware store. Will try it out tomorrow... The original hopper is good for 2-3 kilo of coffee...a bit to much for me. This will be better for my daily use... :-)

Today I found an even better and cheaper solution inthe grocery store. A 0.5 litre plastic blender with the exact diameter...3 bucks... Just had to cut off the bottom and the lid is sealed. So, tomorrow I will go back and empty their stock! :-)
