Happy Lab Jelly Beans from Target come in a plastic rack of perspex test tubes with screw down lids similar to the pic, without the blush brush... and you get their eat their contents.

Haha they've only just been released - you likely won't find them on eBay for years (if ever). Pretty sure you'd have to self import from the manufacturer with these at the moment. But any old test tubes you could get anywhere.

    Can't say I expected that!

RPM would be acceptable, but "speed" would be better...

The statement about steam wands on commercial machines that blast too much air into small amounts of milk, also irks me.

Funny you should ask this... I ended up helping to proofread the website content about a week before its launch. There was a lot of material and not much time.

You're right "RPMs" is annoying and I totally missed it. The only variant that might be even more annoying would be RsPM!

It's an interesting looking bit of kit. Some of the claims...
Regarding pre-dosing - what good is weighing your dose with a 0.1g scale if your resolution is "1 bean"?

Also, who is the editor? Am I the only one who finds the use of "RPMs" annoying?

Its like saying "you will get there quicker if you increase the kphs of your car. *facepalm*

    Hey chokkidog

Don't beat yourself up too much about it - so much info, so little time.

Great for bragging rights - swap a Swiss made (Ditting comercial module) Mahlkonig for a "custom US made" grinder which also packages it all in an amazingly small size.

PS: I am also in the CO2 is heavier than air camp. As long as the hopper is covered / shielded from light and is in a cool dry area there is no issue with having the beans there for a week or so. After grinding - it starts to oxidise immediately and then goes downhill rapidly after that. I should add to my "as long as it is not burnt" posts "or stale"...

I think it will make the anal happy.

Might have some use for a gadget fixated commercial roaster showcasing different roasts??

I am also in the " CO2 is heavier than air...please do not disturb the beans" camp.

A while ago I watched a barista pre weigh a days worth of Single Origin shots for their EK43......the

amount of manual mixing with air was alarming, especially given that the roast was produced in a commercial

setting and had been roasted, cooled, dumped in open container, poured into destoner hopper, destoned,

emptied into container and then poured into bags/buckets before being sealed 'airtight'. In some places that doesn't take long

to do but in others ......

"Sorry Mr Customer, no I won't pack your 50kg coffee order in test tubes"...

Even if portioned out the night before, the small, air-tight, machine-washable containers will keep the beans fresher than a larger container would with more air trapped inside.
Hmmm... so easy to claim this sort of thing without taste testing. Per "some other thread" I posted in a while back, I've actually found the opposite that an undisturbed container (hopper) keeps beans better than mucking about with them constantly, introducing "new oxygen" each time.

Good article though, partly marketing spin and fluff but that's also the grinder's key target market.
