Profitec Pro T64 review (2016)

Does the ECM S-Auto have any clogging issues in the chute? I'm wondering if that's the answer, or if you're better off persevering with the funnel for better grind quality. The ECM V-Titan appears to be the top of the pick of these (love the form factor).

Taking off the funnel cap of the T64 and sweeping out the chute is real easy if you want to swap out beans. AFAIK not possible with the Atom (nor the ECM, or the Fausto). I’ve used an Atom for a day, when the opportunity arose, but obviously wouldn’t have as much extensive experience with it as you Antony. I just immediately found some things like that irritating.
6 seconds is good for me. Enough time to fill my milk jug and get the carton back in the fridge. 10 seconds and I’m tapping my foot.
The burr removal process is genius however.

Do you have an Atom Al?
I use our demo one daily and have never had an issue with the round button to activate the grind. As far as the touch pad interface goes it is IMO the easiest and most intuitive system I have used on a digital grinder.
Yes T64 is faster then an Atom. The Atom is not slow though so the question is how fast do you need?
As for cleaning I am not so sure one is necessarily better then the other. The Atom top burr removal and cleaning process is also unique.
We sell the Atom and ECM but not the Profitec.
Cheers
Antony

Here you go, a good read: http://coffeesnobs.com.au/grinders/4...on-funnel.htmlOriginally posted by boblinder View PostArcade, can you please post the thread.
My friend is looking into the puchase of one of these devices, are they still recomended?
I thougt an Atom would be a better choice but color options are limited and cost is higher.
Seems like the choice is either the Profitec T64 or ECM V-titan with the funnel (more retention but less clumping and better distribution), or the ECM S-Automatik 64 that has a chute instead of funnel. From what I can ascertain, the best result would be the funnel versions, grid intact, just mindful that you will want to purge a few grams before your first shot.

With regard to Atom colours we have plenty of black in stock along with small numbers of Chrome, Green and a light blue.Originally posted by boblinder View PostArcade, can you please post the thread.

Anyone tried their T64 without the anti-static screen? Would that retain less, or does static keep the grinds there anyway? (I found on my Mazzer Major that it was way better without the grid, and it also meant you could get a brush up there if you needed as well).
Edit just found a thread on this sorry! All has been answered

Profitec Pro T64 review (2016)
I second the above: The Eureka grinders have an adjustment knob which moves the lower burr carrier up/down. Therefore, when you remove the top plate to have access to the burrs, you simply unscrew it. As the top plate is fixed, you will not lose any adjustments and re-dialing in is not necessary. This has been my experience with an Eureka Mignon for over 3 years. The Fausto (Or Eureka 65E) have the same adjustment mechanism.
The T64 is a great machine. Have had one now for 1.5 years and really rate it.

I believe that at least a couple of the Eureka grinders don't. The adjustment on them moves the motor and the top burr is fixed, so when you remove the top burr and put it back there is no change to the grind setting.Originally posted by readeral View PostCleaning them won't be any significant difference in terms of re-calibration. Cleaning them won't be any significant difference in terms of re-calibration. All grinders will need to be dialed in again when you're pulling the burrs out, but you won't have to do such a thorough clean very regularly. Once every two months or so, or maybe six months, depends on your usage. Some people never get in there, and use Grindz products instead.
When I opened my T64 up for the second time (after learning my lesson on the first) I used a permanent marker and some electrical tape to indicate where on my burrs I needed to align them to before putting it all back together again. This is my guide now.
Getting into the grinder to clean, in my experience of both (which is very little on the Fausto), it's easier to get into the T64. 3 hex screws and you're already able to then hand-turn out the top burr carrier. Also for the between coffee clean, the Fausto's cap on top of the funnel is fixed with screws, whereas the cap on the T64 is friction fit, meaning that sweeping out (for those that like to sweep out when swapping coffees) is easy to do. I do this all the time.
Also I really appreciate that the T64 used hex screws, because the risk of stuffing the screw head with repeated use is very low, whereas philips-head screws can get mangled over time with the wrong screw-driver size.
Hope that helps.

Mazzer mini grinds at about 1 gram per second. The others you mention are more than twice as fast

Can Any of you comment on the difference in cleaning the t64 compared to the fausto? Do you have to re-calibrate the T64 again, and how is it to take apart?
- om looking at the above mentioned and the mazzer mini, and right now whats maling the difference is, the userfriendlyness.

i won't give advice between equipment here, I just don't have the experience or skills but I will say this. Sometimes in the past, I have opted to save a dollar or 2 and in this example take the least attractive item to save the $$$$ (especially where the difference in price only made a minor difference) AND a couple of those times I've regretted making that decision & it has lessened my enjoyment of the item,so if your going to be like that, get the one you like, if there's only a few $$$$ in it and your doing it with savings.....just be happy and go for it. Don't get caught out buying, selling and buying again.....that will cost you. All the grinders you mention have a long life span, you could be looking at it for decades.Originally posted by Tanax View PostThank you guys!
Interestingly enough, the price of the Fausto seems to have dropped from 9990 sek to 8490 sek. Profitec is 7995 sek (so now Fausto is similarly priced to the T64) while the V-Titan is 10695 sek so about 25% more expensive than the others. I wonder if it's worth it. I'm really loving the V-Titan appearance
Lifes pretty short, here one minute, gone the next.
