  • Quamar Q50 Push grinder (with timer) - short review

The new Quamar Q50 push (with timer) is just in. I did a quick bench test.

    Pros
    - Consistent grind performance, as you would expect from any grinder in the $600-$1300 class.
    - Mazzer Mini E style anti-static funnel for low mess.
    - Nice fluffy & clump free grind.
    - Fast grind speed (approx 2.5 g/s compared to 1.5 g/s for the Mazzer Mini E)
    - Established Italian brand.
    - The new model has a timer on the LHS. Use of this is optional.
    - Solid build with exceptional finish.
    - I love the way the bottom "catch tray" is integrated into the body in one piece.
    - Great looks. I think it's the best looking home grinder around but that's subjective.

    Cons
    - stepped adjustment. Not a big deal as the steps are very close - My testing showed approx 1 second shot time changes between steps.
    - There's grind retention, but less than you get in a Mazzer Mini E due to the shorter path to the doser.

    Summary
The Quamar Q50 is arguably better than the Mazzer Mini E at half the price. Highly recommend by * **** Coffee.

There's also an electronic version but I don't see the point in that for home use. I'm a fan of the "push to grind" then level technique.

Disclaimer - I sell 5 Grinder brands so the above is my opinion, not brand bias

I think this may be my next grinder, the manual version. Black looks nice but will it wear?

Do you mean the paint or the burrs?
The paint finish is first class....
The burrs are on par with all SS burrs.

        Here's a pic of the Quamar Q50 E.
Question for you guys is: are the electronics worth the extra $ ?
