Thanks a lot. Would a doserless or doser be better? What's the difference?

Geez, I must've lucked out then - my Sunbeam '450 is coming up to ten years without missing a beat, used daily for most of that time...

Rocky will do the job, although a Compak or Macap would be a better choice, like most grinders Rocky makes a reasonable amount of noise Pete, if you want quiet you'll probably have to go to a quality hand grinder.

I have a Rocky and it is a little noisy. Based on impressions of trying a couple of Compak and Macap models in a CS sponsor showroom a couple of weeks ago, I would say they were quieter than the Rocky. Not scientific of course

Rocky served me well for 10 years, only now looking into an upgrade. Very capable grinder previously but better options out there now

My Rocky hasn't missed a beat in 10 years but will soon be on the for sale thread only due to a double upgrade. I found the Rocky was at the end of its range grinding for my Expobar Minore and the Macap 4D was a much better match. The Rocky worked beautifully with a Silvia prior to that.
