MAzzer SJ Timer switch

Thanks guys, the grinder is pretty beat up and not worth too much - so I don't really want to fork out too much for a simple switch.
I ordered a 16 amp DPST switch from China for $3. I will have my sparkly friend peer review my work

Decided not to go ahead and join up one side only. While it would work I believe it would introduce a safety risk leaving one side live all the time.
So I am on the hunt for a replacement switch. I never really liked the timer and would prefer a simple on off.
Does anyone know of a replacement on-off switch that would suit the SJ? Of course It has to be two poles.

MAzzer SJ Timer switch
Hi,
My timer switch on my super jolly stopped working a few years back. At the time I just joined the wires together and have been using the power point as the on/off.
Today, After seeing the price of a new switch ($129) I decided to open up the old switch to try and fix it. I found that simply one of the flat copper pieces making up one "Pole" of the switch had broken at the point where it is bent at a right angle. This means the other side of the switch still works. (Confirmed with multimeter)
I am thinking about leaving the Neutral wires joined together (as I have for the last few years) and connecting the Active wires back to the good side of the switch.
Can anyone see any problems doing this? I am not sure why the grinder uses a switch which breaks both active and neutral wires.
My other option was to get a new switch from jaycar. But when I had a look in the shop they only had switches that I could only join the active wires to anyway.Tags: None
