Hi Everyone,
I'm hoping to upgrade to a new machine (thinking the Rocket Appartamento) and grinder next month. I've put a pre-order in for a Baratza Sette with CoffeeParts, but looking at the Baratza website and blog it seems there have been delays and international shipments may not happen until November (not sure how aware CoffeeParts are as they still say September delivery on their website).
I'm starting to think should I cancel the order and look at something else - for the delay and other reasons. The Sette looks like a great grinder, but of course it's untested on scale. There also seems to be a lot of discussion around that suggests Baratza use a lot of plastic in their machines and maybe they're not built to last. The two big plusses for me with the Sette are the small footprint (we have limited bench space) and the price.
On the other other hand I'm also quite drawn to the Fausto (would be great to pair it with the Appartamento). It seems to be built like a tank. Of course it's a bit bigger and almost twice the price. The specs state that it's a fast grinder, but on comparison the Sette grinds even faster. However, I would feel comfortable knowing this machine should last the long haul.
For those who have previous iterations of Baratza grinder - have you been happy with them? Do they break down much?
Are the Fausto owners happy with their kit?
Thanks guys,
Paul
P.S. I know there are many other options - e.g. Macap M4D - priced in between.
