Firstly I would like to thank CS member "Simulacrum" for his link on page 26 of Breville BCG800 Coffee Grinder thread to the "Ifixit" Guide To Replacing the Impeller. I have just replaced my very worn impeller with the 3D printed nylon one which was recommended in the "Ifixit" Guide and found it to be an excellent fit.
The fitting instructions are very easy to follow and well illustrated. The only tool needed that maybe difficult to find is a 5 mm diameter x 210 mm long shaft Phillips screwdriver.
I managed to get the assistance of my Avionics Aircraft Engineer BIL to make one for me.
The worn impeller was 41 mm diameter instead of 45 mm which was enough to make the grinds not enter the exit shute and hence clog the grinder.
The cost of the part with express shipping from USA was approximately $50 and well worthwhile. The original impeller lasted for approximately 60 kg of coffee grinding.
I wonder how many other Breville grinders have ceased working for this reason.
Happy grinding
Herbie.
