As a rule adjust while grinding. You'll get away with small adjustments (~1mm) without grinding but it's best to do it while grinding. Remember to purge after adjusting.

The grind adjustment works by physically moving one of the burrs closer (for finer) or further (for coarser) from the other burr.
Once it has ground some coffee, there will be lots partially ground bean fragments between the burrs.
So you can make adjusts to go coarser without any worries, but trying to push the burrs closer together (for a finer grind) will meet resistance from the trapped bean fragments, so you should always run the grinder when doing this to avoid any possible damage to the grind adjustment mechanism.

Yes general rule of thumb with any grinder is that you adjust while grinding.Originally posted by level3ninja View PostAs a rule adjust while grinding. You'll get away with small adjustments (~1mm) without grinding but it's best to do it while grinding. Remember to purge after adjusting.
However you can make SMALL adjustments while it is not running.

Thanks to Cassa Espresso for our Eureka Atom, sent out a snobs sponsor quote request on Monday (now friday): Antony was the first to respond and the only one to call to discuss my requirements and made a great offer which i didn't hesitate to accept.
So far the Eureka has been amazing, so quiet and fast and quiet, no issues dialling in the grind and shot consistency has been spot on, even making 15 coffees in a row. It so good to not disturb the entire office every time a coffee is made.

Spot on there! Running mine at a markets today and getting great shot to shot consistency. Also as people were singing at the markets it was great to be able to keep making drinks knowing the noise levels were low. Machine and grinder next to low noise. My ice shovelling for cold drinks was probably the noisiest part of the process 🤣

Quiet. Consistent grind. Short hopper. Light enough to cart around.Originally posted by simonsk8r View PostUuuugh you guuuuuys... you're making it very difficult to not want to upgrade immediately... XD
I'm thinking this may be my next grinder
Not the greatest for single dosing as you can see in other topics where we pulled it apart ... not sure if there was consensus that it was possibly better with the black plastic auger cover removed...
But great for working your way through a bag or 1/4 bag at a time.
I’ve used mine to switch between espresso and pour over /cold brew grind and back to espresso with success. I do still have a second grinder laying around for when there’s decaf / alternate single origin visitors in the house. Hoping to paint the old LSM black soon too. 🤣 YCAMV (your coffee addiction may vary)

Ah wow... And I've never seen that style of grind adjustment knob before, very different. So tempted...Originally posted by matth3wh View PostQuiet. Consistent grind. Short hopper. Light enough to cart around.

Hi Simon,Originally posted by simonsk8r View PostAh wow... And I've never seen that style of grind adjustment knob before, very different. So tempted...
The Eureka grind adjustment is a great bit of engineering and used across the range of all their grinders.
it works by moving the BOTTOM burr up or down. Not only does this make adjustment very accurate it also allows you to remove, change and clean the burrs and when you replace the top burr the grind setting is exactly where it was when you removed the burr. Almost no need to reset your grind setting.
very clever

It actually arrived around 2-3 this afternoon! Talk about fast delivery.
I've only run 40 grams of filter through it for some coldbrew, but I'll pull some shots tomorrow and take a few photos.
Thanks so much Antony!! Stellar service and a bloody great deal too.
