  • Eureka Atom

Just thinking, will be interested to see the bellows work single dosing again but with zero or with less tape forcing air down the exit path 🤣

    • I'll just be purging at the beginning of the day. Not for me thanks.

      • Thanks for that level3ninja, great review. I don't have an Atom, but enjoyed reading

        • At least from level3ninja's review, the Blow UP system seems underwhelming.
Wondering if it works any different on the other Eureka Grinders (mainly Olympus?). I expected it to be able to clear the chute with the burss not turning

If anyone is interested in getting themselves a ‘cake bopper’ I’ve just seen one of fb marketplace in Croydon, VIC. I searched “sieve” and it was the first thing that came up in a mixed lot of Tupperware.

            • I suppose, regardless whether getting the blow-off feature or not, you would still have to clean the chute very now and then. I saw a Youtube video of Seattle Coffee Gear about cleaning the Atom where our YT coffee heroin Gail was leaving the touch pad with the printboard dangling in mid-air while she was vacuuming the gounds from the chute. Also if that rubber flap wasn't seated properly, grounds ended up behind the touch pad, on the printboard. I was (and still am) kind of interested in the Atom Specialty with larger burrs (65 mm), but that video put me off a little from a maintenance point-of-view. Can anyone chime in on experiences with regards to cleaning out this grinder ?

              • Would love to her people's thoughts on the atom so keep the reviews coming as really keen on this grinder just with it was better as single dosing.
The ataom may be different by my Mignon was around half to a third of a turn back from burrs touching.

The touchpad & screen can be easily unplugged, just two wires in the back. Be careful not to touch the circuitboard when handling tough. The rubber flap on the chute is easy to replace, and if you take the few seconds to look/feel it's easy to tell if it's in place properly or not. If you use the right tools (#3 Philips screwdriver and Allen keys) cleaning is a breeze. The fact that removing the to burr doesn't change the grind setting makes it even easier to clean.

I think the reason Gail struggled do much on the video is that whoever had it open before her had tightened the screws up way too much and hadn't put the rubber flap back properly on the chute. You shouldn't have the same issues, I certainly don't.

                  • Will happily answer any questions you have specifically.

After having a m4d and bcg820 before this grinder is far easier to clean than any others.

                    That m4d was a pain.

I leave the lcd screen attached and just hold out of the way whilst vacuuming inside.

A friend of mine is ocd and just puts a little freezer bag over. Sure you could unplug and reattach but I never found it to be an issue.

Just yesterday I took the declumper out and that’s a little tricky to reattach just where the screw is but a minute later it was back on.

                    • I quite enjoy cleaning my Atom. It takes as long as you want it to really, depending on how meticulous you want to be. I agree the declumber is hard to get back on and easy to drop that little screws. I don’t detach the touchpad either, it sits to the side no problem without pulling on the wires. I find it does retain a fair bit of grind, not really ideal for single dosing.

This was so funny to watch!

Thanks for the review. This cover looks very promising but it seems it would take quite a bit of experience to really benefit from. I think for now I'll stick with purging the coffee when I start the day.

                              I can’t answer directly, but 11.1s gets me between about 14.2 and 16.0 g (quite a fine grind, for a VST 15g).

                              • Thanks. It’s strange how much beans make a difference.

At the start I was 8seconds for 8 grams then was up to 13-14 seconds and now back to 9 seconds with this mornings roast.
