Ps I forgot to mention after a roast which clogs the chute be very thorough on the cleaning of the chute. Wipe firmly , then warm soapy water and strong scrubbing then wipe firmly again. Remove all traces of any oil

    Are you doing RDT?

Even on my P64, if I don't RDT, I get a bit of clogging and need to blow.

    Tom, Definition of paradox
1 : one (such as a person, situation, or action) having seemingly contradictory qualities or phases. 2a : a statement that is seemingly contradictory or opposed to common sense and yet is perhaps true. b : a self-contradictory statement that at first seems true.

Is it the beans or the grinder or is that what you are trying to figure out? Hard to imagine that it's the grinder.

You are right, it would not be an expected result. I had a Atom 60 and the two times it clogged the chute were due to my roasts being oily. Your Atom doesn't lose grind settings when cleaning. I would try another roaster - here is at least a known quantity from a roaster which has won the Golden Bean three times - https://beanbay.coffeesnobs.com.au/C.../RoastedCoffee

Atom 75 is the best value for money grinder with burrs up to 75mm: small footprint, great build quality, many compatible burrs (including Mythos), extremely low retention (great for a single dosing) and the quality of the grind beats any 50mm~65mm grinder.

Got the new burrs in yesterday and a marked improvement in performance. Probably grinding 25-30% faster than it was before. Embarrassingly, I also realised I had been under dosing my filter basket. I had the recommended range wrong in my head. To compensate I was having to grind finer which I’m sure only compounded the clumping issue. So fixed the dosing issue and a new set of burrs has the Atom purring again.

Ordered a new set of burrs and will see what improvement they make.

Yep, and there's a definite line of wear on the leading edges, particularly as you more closer towards the circumference. Second 'ninja's suggestion to replace the burr-set...

They look quite worn, the cutting surfaces are quite bumpy. New burrs could be a good idea.

I’m beginning to wonder if the burrs may need replacing. I hadn’t considered this before because I would have only put about 100kgs of coffee through it and I think the hires are rated for 350kgs. I did buy it 2nd hand though and can’t be certain how much it had been used before I had it. It could have been in a cafe for all I know. I’ve attached a photo of the top burr, hoping someone can help me out whether they need replacing. I also notice that the tunnel between the anti-static device and the grinding chamber is always full of coffee when I open it. I think it might be compacting in that area somewhat and then coming out in clumps. I also notice that when I watch videos of someone using an Atom, the response is so quick on their grinder. Ie. when they push the button the grind seems to appear immediately, more rapidly than mine, and with more projection out of the chute. I have the V1 chute.

I had to remove the top burr and the dosing pipe completely. I would then clean the grinds and use hot soapy water to remove the coffee oils. It is very unusual you are seeing this from home roasted beans but maybe grab some beans and take a photo on a white background. Do your roasted beans have any visible oil on them if so I think this is a problem with the Atom design as both the grind chamber and the plastic dosing funnel seem to be very receptive/sticky to coffee oils.
Yeah I’m doing all that when I clean it. The grind chamber gets a good vacuum out and I often, but not always, wash the plastic components. What I see when I do a clean is that there’s quite a bit of grind sitting behind the anti-static device. It’s not compacted but there is a lot of it there. I also get a lot of grind that has been compacted against the ‘arms’(for lack of a better word) that rotate inside the grind chamber to force grinds down the chute. I roast fairly light, usually just passed 1st crack. I’m finding some improvement with a different bean and am going to keep experimenting with different beans to see whether bean density might be part of the issue.
