Hey all!
Long time reader, first time poster (I think?)
My wife recently bought me a Expobar Office Leva (which she got brand new for $1700...a steal!). It's my entry into the 'prosumer' category after a loooooong time of reading and research. I've spent the last 4-5 years on full manual machines - had a ROK Espresso couple with a bellman stovetop steamer for a few years, then got myself a Little Guy with the induction top. I have absolutely loved the process and ritual of making coffee on those machines, coupled with the pain/annoyance of hand grinding my beans every time. But, time has come to move to something that will offer different challenges (and also free up a lot more time in the morning!)
Onto the question - I'm needing to get myself a grinder to accompany said HX machine but budget is an issue (max $450). I've haven't seen a huge amount out there about the Lelit PL43's and their ability for everyday use. Is it a grinder that people would recommend? I'll be using it primarily for espresso on the expobar (2-3 shots a day)
I've also read up on the Compak K3's and Macao M2M's but I know I can grab myself a Lelit PL43 for under $400. I am also fully aware that although upfront cost is high, you kind of amortise the cost of a grinder over years of use; from reading I see that the Compaks and Macaps will last a long long time with minimal issues. Does anyone have any insights on the longevity of the Lelits?
I was also considering for a while the Rocky, but feel that perhaps it's not quite in the same boat as what I'm suggesting above...happy to be challenged on this though!
Thanks all!
Wes
