
Like many others here on CS, I've owned several new grinders over the years and yes, burr-sets sometimes need to wear the tooling edges off before the output can be considered consistent. But we're not talking huge differences here and certainly nowhere near different enough to cause significant differences between shots.
No grinder I've owned has required more than half-a-dozen shots to dial-in to my espresso machine(s) and the problems you're experiencing may be related more to consistency of dosing and distribution than anything the grinder is doing. Have you considered attending one of several Home Barista Courses offered by any number of specialist retailers and particularly those offered by our Site Sponsors? They're worth their weight in gold for anyone starting off from scratch...
