Have to say I get a little miffed re the constant knocking of Mazzer grinders Paul, other sponsors still keep them in their range, there are many satisfied owners in Oz

People get the impression it's a crap brand, not so, other sponsors still choose to keep them in their line up.

I agree they are slower than some of the newer offerings, however they are an excellent grinder and will outlast many of the newer offerings.

As a recent Atom owner, I am suitably wowed by it. Incredible piece of kit.

The Mazzer Mini has been outclassed by new grinders. ATOM is certainly one of them

    Or maybe a Macap M4D

My Forte just died and am considering buying an MMe (a) but off this post I am now less sure. I'm espresso only and love light roast flavour profiles. I wonder if I am heading down the right path with the Mazza? May be the Atom?

Also, I am wondering, for those who use the Lido E-T for espresso, what are you using for the shot? Again I'm checking my logic, but the portability of a manual grinder seems a waste if you have to use an espresso machine to pull a shot.

    Thanks

For those playing at home I now have an m3 and a hg-one. Got both second hand by being extremely lucky.

Haven't had much of a chance to try the m3 yet but the hg one gives a really nice extraction. Getting beans into the funnel and grinding under cabinets isnt perfect though. Might take it in to work and see if we can motorise it.

You might be better off seeing if this can be fabricated from a suitable sized tin.

    https://www.espressoparts.com/mazzer...ic-doser-chute

It's for the Mazzer Mini-e but might fit. Check the dimensions in the last pic. Yeah, I know, I looked at this option once and decided i couldn't be @rsed so mine remains dosered

Excuse the link to a commercial site but in case Javaphile consigns it to cybertrash, google "mazzer mini doserless kit" and check the Espresso parts entry. Coffee Parts sells them for about $300.

$25 to $30 for a donut funnel/ piston funnel/ fudge funnel. The usual auction site has them available with free delivery to Australia. Remove the handle and central plunger, and then cheap fibre cutting disk's on a Dremel to do the rest of the work.

    Thanks for the suggestions people.

If I cant find a doserless hopper will leave it as a doser, no big deal.

Another option is to make one out of a donut funnel, they can be found relatively cheaply if you google and the diameter of the body fair closely matches that of the actual Mazzer one.

Wasn't there a popular jam funnel mod going around a few years back?

I'm all for simplicity, but if a simple mod saves serious coin there's normally a market for it.
