Hey Paul, I'm also a cyclist so that really resonates with me. I have 4 bikes ;-)Originally posted by K_Bean_CoffeeCyclists have a saying... "How many bikes is enough? ...one more."
Could be the same with grinders. I hope so. That would boost sales a little

Yes, that is correct. The EP triple basket is too deep for most traditional portafilters. I don't use mine much, but if I do it has to be with the naked (bottomless) portafilterOriginally posted by cfeo View PostHi Jenny,
I got the double. I've heard the triple won't fit the standard handle.

Hi Paul,Originally posted by K_Bean_CoffeeHi Jenny & cfeo,
True precision baskets (laser-cut and ridgeless) (eg, IMS and VST) are generally $40-$45.
Good hunting.
Cheers, Paul
Yes, I'm aware of the higher price for the VST and IMS baskets. The precision one from Talk Coffee is also ridgeless and laser-cut.
All, Here's a photo of the standard Silvia and the precision basket.

I guess it comes down to how rich a brew you prefer....
Me, I use the Triple Basket 100% of the time and love it.
No need for the Triple though, the Double is also excellent and will satisfy all but the geekiest CSers...

I'm certainly not in the anti-VST camp. But with regularly changing beans, and with the Mrs making a coffee or 2 each day (and let us just say that attention to detail is not so high on the agenda), the EP is much more forgiving.Originally posted by K_Bean_CoffeeI'm a former VST guy and now an IMS / Pesado basket guy, but considering advice above, EP certainly seems worth a try.

Just confirming that I order a medium and not a triple basket?Originally posted by cfeo View PostHi Jenny,
Nice setup there. I purchased a precision double basket for $20 from Talk Coffee. It works great with the original Silvia handle and I can get 20 to 22 grams in. I find it's really improved the taste.

Same here. I have IMS, VST, la marzocco and EP. EP are easily the most forgiving to use daily.

All I can say is that I own both the 'true precision' baskets (i.e. VST) and the Espresso Precision (EP) basket. Both work fine, when you dial everything in. The EP is far more sympathetic to minor variations in grind.....and they are what I use on a day to day basis.

Hi Jenny,Originally posted by Coffeenooby View PostI find the double basket a lil small for 2 cups at once. Think I'll buy a Rancilio Silvia naked portafilter which comes with a larger basket. Is this a common upgrade?
