My Robur runs fine with the third party burrs put in. These were put in January this year. It is easy to put new burrs in. The Mazzer burrs some years back were very poorly engineered and took a long time to bed in. This was the result of poor finish and it being a sub standard burr. The article is here on CS and is back in 2012. Evidently they have fixed this.
Espresso works here in Perth put third party burrs in it seems in preference to the Mazzer one probably because they are both better and cheaper. A burr called Food Friendly use what looks to be a hardened stainless steel for the burrs and claim that they don't need bedding in. They are also inexpensive and can be ordered on eBay. They also claim they last 70% longer. Gorilla Gear burrs claim better particle size distribution and many times the hardness with a low friction coating as well.
I am not sure original Mazzer parts have any particular advantage and may even be the worst choice for the Robur.

The third party burrs I have are fine.
You can get Gorilla burrs which are much better evidently but have a hairy gorilla price tag $486

Mazzer Robur burr
Hi all,
I'm looking into changing my Robur's burr. I'm thinking shall I replace with a mazzer one or go aftermarket this time? I'm thinking the gorilla mazzer 71mm burr but it costs nearly twice as much of the mazzer burr. I do 45 grams per day. Any though? Or anyone can give me comment on the gorilla burr
