    Hi artman,

I had exactly the same issue as yourself with my Sette 270W. I have 2 shims installed (supplied with the grinder) underneath the burr cone because otherwise I could not get a fine enough grind for espresso. In my case, when I disassembled the burr I found some grounds between the shim and the under side of the burr cone on one side. See attached photo. This was enough to offset burrs so that the grind coming from one side was a smidgen larger than the other. I cleaned the shim and burr cone and now all is good.

I'm surprised that cleaning the slots fixed the issue in your case. After all, as long as the grind size is consistent, then even if it comes out of the grinder more on one side, it is still consistent in the portafilter after you have tamped...

    Cheers.

Yes dosing is very accurate and consistent.

That is what the stopping is. There are different rubber feet in the box that is meant to solve the stopping issue.

    Cheers

I've had that happen too a few times and after doing some googling put it down to the initial vibration of the machine kicking in to grind throwing the scale off. Not sure but it hasn't happened for a while.

I've done some 'spot' checks in dose weights and impressed to see them spot on to +/- 0.2gm.

It's been going great otherwise and the above must have been an anomaly with something blocking up part of the path.

Thanks for the heads up on the Sette. I'm really tempted by the 270w. Hmm decisions...

Uneven extraction on the Sette - solved

The first thing I noticed on the sette was how easy it was to get even extraction across the basket (can easily see on a naked), used to get mild donut extraction. Then out of the blue I was getting very pronounced lob sided extraction, consistently starting on the right side of the basket and slowly spreading across. Nothing looked or felt different, couldnt work it out.

I removed the burr and cleaned out the slots where the grinds come out and problem solved! Obviously there was one spot that was a bit clogged. So if you ever experience unexplained uneven extraction on the sette clean the slots.

    Grinder going great otherwise.

    Cheers
