Hey mate, how did you remove the auger? I find it's spinning and now sure how to lock it in place to remove the nutOriginally posted by Enigk View PostI single dose as well and honestly have been annoyed at the popcorning issue and also how sometimes beans would just not get "sucked in" to be ground. This evening I removed the black plastic agitator (the one with the Eureka logo on it) as I had the same thoughts about it as you did.
It made things infinitely better. No more popcorning. I tried it about 10 times. 100% of single dosed beans were ground 100% of the time. Grind retention behind the clump buster remained though. I might remove clump buster and see what it does. To be honest, I would rather a bit of clumping than all that grind retention. I used to always stir my grinds after grinding anyway.
Hope this helps

Oh so what I did was to insert an allen key (any straight and stiff implement will do) through the chute, from the outside where the clump buster is, until it touches the rotating burr housing - this will stop the motor from rotating when it catches on one of the two raised edges of the housing (see those two raised bits at the 6 and 12 o clock positions in photo attached). Hope this helps.Originally posted by science-teacher View PostHey mate, how did you remove the auger? I find it's spinning and now sure how to lock it in place to remove the nut

Hi Atom users, so I have a public service announcement to make. Do not, for the love of god, remove the clump buster. I have tried this and the result was hilariously disastrous! The static build up was so extreme that the grounds just refused to go through the chute and just stuck to the walls of the chute. When I cleared the chute with a chopstick, the highly-charged grounds did make it through the chute but would spray EVERYWHERE and stick to the grinder's body. Seriously, I thought I was gonna see lightning bolts from any static discharge. See photos and have a laugh. So from my experiments, I would recommend auger comes off and clump buster stays in place.
The clump buster being there does result in quite a bit of grind retention I noticed. Grinds not only got retained at the exit chute but on the burrs as well - see photos.

Wondering how you went with the Atom for the rest of 2017 and whether you're drinking (coffee) heavily over the Christmas / NY break like our family?
