Too good to be true: Cheap Chinese burr grinder selling on Amazon/Ebay
Tom from Sweet Maria’s has just posted a video review of two of these grinders on YouTube. It seems the really cheap ones on eBay are actually Chinese knock offs of slightly less cheap Taiwanese grinders made by Bella TW Trading. They both have some great features, but it looks like the Chinese ones maybe aren’t worth the hassle. So I went and had a good look at them on the Bella TW website and they’re a direct drive and spin at 2200rpm!!!!! That’s waaaaaay to fast IMO, and I’m gonna pass on these ones. To be fair the few places I’d seen people say good things about them were US based forums where for the most part they think drinking dark roasted coffee made on $30 drippers is ‘good coffee’.

Is this the one you’re referring to?

If so they are quite good by all accounts. Their biggest downside is that they’re quite fragile, but they do a pretty good job as a grinder. There’s a few threads on CG and HB about them so if you’re interested I’d go look them up.
Apparently they usually don’t grind fine enough for espresso out of the box, but can be easily modified to do so. They’re most suited for use as a filter grinder and this is how most people use them. I’m planning on grabbing one some time soon to try out.

it'll definitely grind coffee, if that's what you're asking.

Someone in another thread who was temporarily living in China said they had one very similar, and it was utterly crap. In this case you get what you pay for, if that.

Hi,
I just noticed this and was wondering if anyone has ever bothered buying one or has seen reviews for one, and whether or not they're suitable for espresso?
I know it probably looks too good to be true but I'd love to be pleasantly surprised...
