Great setup you’ve got there Javameister [emoji108]

Worthwhile getting those scales to know what you’re getting in to your basket.

It arrived! What a beautiful grinder, so much better looking than the Sunbeam. Very quiet, much less messy (although still get some spillover near the end, can't avoid it I guess) and easy to adjust. Love it. Pulled a few shots and they were pretty good, still might need to do a bit more adjusting and get the timer right. I also want to get a set of scales so I can weigh the grinds/basket etc. But it definitely makes a difference and is much nicer to use. Can't fault the service from the shop I bought it off, ordered it late Wednesday evening and it turned up Monday afternoon from Italy.

The only thing is, I can't plug both the grinder and my timer (which the machine is connected to) in at the same time as the adaptor is very bulky. Will have to try and find a short extension lead or something.

I am definitely looking forward to the quietness and timed dosing on the Specialita, and it should be a bit less messy too. I do think the EM0480 is a pretty good grinder overall especially at its price, and I will be keeping it for french press.
Oh I think you’re in for a very very pleasant surprise [emoji6]

My father in law is custodian of my old EM0480.

    Circa ...?
I don’t know how old now. Maybe it’s 9-10 years old now and still working away with his EM7000.
Probably could use some new burrs. Teehee.

Hoping that the grinder does make a noticeable difference in the cup. Years ago the EM0480 had a pretty good reputation and it has served me fine, but I was mainly using it for french press and an occasional shot on my old Sunbeam with pressurised baskets (the quality of which I now realize was very average indeed). The biggest annoyance with the EM0480 is the amount of mess it makes, coffee goes everywhere and it also retains quite a lot of grounds. I am definitely looking forward to the quietness and timed dosing on the Specialita, and it should be a bit less messy too. A few months back I told a friend to get in touch with you Antony to upgrade his home grinder.

Immediately thought of this grinder / Eureka option for the quiet and compact size.

Hopefully he will be in touch. [emoji106]

You’d have to weigh up if the cheapness of overseas purchase + potential duty is worth it compared with buying within AU and being covered by consumer law and supporting local businesses. Also, potential shipping delays to factor in whether or not you’re in a rush?

How does warranty work with Eureka if in the unlikely event there is an issue?

Good to support the locals and CS sponsors when we can [emoji106]
Its a role of the dice with duty and GST on individual shipments from overseas.
Sometimes it gets through, sometimes it doesn't and you get a nasty surprise to get the goods released.

No Australian warranty for products privately imported.

I received my Eureka Atom 75 a couple months ago from Europe, and I'm loving it! Got it with the blow up system and red speed burrs. Grinds 22g in 4-5 seconds. Even particle sized grinds, quiet operation, low retention (less than 2g after cleaning out). Can't ask for much more!

Exciting stuff to look forward to very soon... Enjoy the quiet and compact grinder.

Hopefully we will get to hear how you find it vs the Sunnybeam.

Hope this takes your coffee to a new level too [emoji106]

I will certainly be supporting the sponsors where I can with bean and accessories purchases. Starting to think the Sunbeam is not quite up to par and not keen to spend $1k+ at the moment on a grinder, so couldn't resist this after reading positive reports and comparing the price difference.

Local warranty is usually a priority for me but the way I see it is a grinder can't have too much go wrong/can't be fixed.

What is the Italian website that will ship to Australia?
