Put a couple of days worth of beans in the hopper. This keeps a fairly constant load on the beans as they hit the burrs.

You just purge a couple of grams at the start of the day and otherwise you're all good. Minimises waste.

    Thanks for your thoughts guys.

I've also been reading a lot about single dose grinding. I've always just put enough beans in for a single dose but am now learning that most grinders don't appreciate this. Are there any grinders that handle single dose grinding, or should I change my methods? If so, how should I go about this? I really don't like the idea of wasting beans, not because of the cost involved, but more so because I just don't like the idea of waste. I suppose I can put another 5 grams or so in and then always waste it before the next grind, but exactly how much weight needs to be in the hopper to ensure a consistent grind?

    Thanks for your time.

I agree with Antony here, the Eurekas are good, i dont have the Atom but the Zenith and can say its the best grinder I have owned having had the M4D prior to it.. No clumping and consistency is the key in my view.

Yes, quite sure all 3 would perform admirably. I realise that the fausto is the most expensive of the 3 but a R58...... well it’s not an Aldi Saturday special so buy once and enjoy. I was looking at it from a brand and visual perspective.

The Fausto is made by Eureka. It is the Atoms 1st cousin

    Hi Esky,

We supply both the Macap M4D and the Eureka ATOM grinder.

These would be my recommendation at around the 1k mark plus or minus.

The Atom is probably the better one with no clumping, unbelievably quiet! It is more expensive though.

Feel free to call or PM if we can help

    Regards

I currently have an old Breville pro grinder, but it's not up to scratch. I'm looking for something high quality, with little to no clumping, that I can make minor grind size adjustments to. The Breville I'm running has huge jumps between grind sizes and it's near impossible to get the right size.

I'm looking for something that won't be too large, but is also quality. I want to get something that is still running strong in 10 years time. Preferably under $1000 but willing to spend more if I need to. Used is an option also.

I also would like to buy something that is stocked by the sponsors of this site, for without them I'd have little knowledge on coffee.

    Thanks,

I’ve got a Macap M4D with my Minore III. Very happy with it. The timed dose is very consistent and easily added to if you need to. Step less adjustment. At your price point and well supported by sponsors
