If you remove the top burr you will see the impeller. The ends should go underneath the outer circular cutout.
If it’s steel I can’t see how that can wear out.
Perhaps remove the burrs and give everything a god clean out with brush and vacuum and see how you go?
Cheers

For reference, mine takes 11 secs to do 17 g.Originally posted by jztilly View Post... up until recently, it would take ~18 seconds to provide ~20g of grounds into the basket ...
That was my thought also. When you had the burrs out did you run your fingernail along the edge to see if they are still sharp?Originally posted by Yelta View PostPerhaps time for a new set of burrs.
I would not think the sweeper (that's the actual name of that part) would have anything to do with your issue. A worn out sweeper causes clogging and stalling as the the grind chamber becomes filled with grounds.Originally posted by jztilly View Post... it appears the older model had an impeller that wore out but the BGC820 has a solid one. ...

i thought that originally - but the grind setting is on what i usually have it on (between 7-9 depending on bean age). the grinds are the right size, it just seems to have trouble pulling them down.
after googling around, it appears the older model had an impeller that wore out but the BGC820 has a solid one. might rip the whole thing apart and see what i can find.
where does one purchase new burrs for these?

smart grinder pro issue
Hi all,
We've had our smart grinder pro for a couple of years now and all of a sudden it seems to have an issue pulling the beans down.
- up until recently, it would take ~18 seconds to provide ~20g of grounds into the basket
- now it needs well over 32 seconds for the same amount of grounds
- sounds like it's almost running out of beans all the time regardless of how many beans there are in the hopper
- this issue occurs regardless of where we get our beans from
- full emptied the machine, removed burr, cleaned out old grinds etc
Just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue or have any ideas on how to fix it? If not, I'm considering grabbing either another smart grinder pro or taking a look at the Baratza Sette 30 AP for a change of scenery (and those ~5 second grind times)
Thanks in advance!Tags: None
