A One dollar coin weighs exactly 9 grams. That should help you calibrate if your scales are accurate or broken.
Do let us know the result....

No mate! My scales are way out of whack! They were originally saying my basket was weighing 87g,now when changing batteries it's about 24g. So yeah! It's the scalesOriginally posted by 338 View PostFilthy, did you zero the scales after putting the empty portafilter on, or is the weight of portafilter + coffee = 63 grams. There is no way there is 63 grams of coffee in the pf unless you lace your coffee with lead

Here is a pic of my scales weighing the coffee in over 60grams, so unless these scales are completely wrong then...
Edit: I will compare with other scales to see if these are way inaccurate, because by the sounds of things they are way out...

Yep have a feeling it may be the cause
Trying to get an item I can weigh to see if it's calibrated and accurate. The standard sunbeam tamper is weighing at 140g if anyone else is able to confirm this

Try putting some new batteries in. Inaccuracy is a sure sign of drained or faulty batteries.

The SB double has a nominal size of 16g. The 6910 can handle severe overdosing, however I doubt that the standard basket can fit anywhere near 60g. Perhaps you have a "ring in" rather than the original - wouldn't be the first I have seen. Look up the SB website and do a comparison.Originally posted by FilthySudo View PostSo! Gotten some aldi beans to adjust my settings on my grinder. I have scales and a nicer tamper now, but so unsure about when people say they're putting in 21g dosed into their portafilter basket, as my double shot single wall basket takes 60g to fill the basket level! What's the go with this? Is this correct? It's the sunbeam 6910 with the standard double basket. The shot seems to be pouring nicely but my rocky is also about 4 clicks from zero getting a decent shot! I have zeroed the machine and the burrs arnt that old at all!
Grinder settings are almost irrelevant unless they are calibrated. Unless you run out of adjustment for your desired grind I suggest you ignore them other than as a guide for the next shot. If you do run out of adjustment then shim / recalibrate the grinder.

I have a SB EM6910 as well, and can't imagine how you're getting 60 g into the double basket.Originally posted by FilthySudo View Post... my double shot single wall basket takes 60g to fill the basket level! I am currently dosing with 18 g and get 54 g out (1:3) in 25-35 sec.

I had a 6910 about 10yrs ago and vaguely remember I used about 25 grams for the single wall double basket. I now have an e61 and with the persuading basket I use about 24gms. I don’t know if this helps.

The Aldi Lazzio beans are great for testing, cheap yet always reasonably fresh and can make a decent cup. I would not trust any of the Coles beans to give you a reliable result.

Not really use your current bean and fine up your grind. Remember as your beans age you need to adjust your grind accordingly.

Cheers guys! Can buying a cheap bean from like aldi or Coles work with fixing the issues or does it have to be the decent bean I usually use to work it out? I know where you buy and how fresh your beans can change factors too
