Helor Stance - Motor

Thanks 338. Indeed, the Stance stood its ground even when placed side by side with the Monolith - at that price it's a bargain for us in Australia if you're in the market for a high-end grinder that single doses well. Now that the word is out, I think my Monolith resale value is gonna take a hit, ouch!

Sounds like plenty are impressed with the grinder.
I googled last night to see if Sam's review had come out and saw it on HB, well worth a read for those following this thread. Sam I must say a very impressive review by you! Lots of detail. Your video was very clear to give an idea of operation. From your review it does seem for those of us in Australia that this is effectively a half price Monolith (with differences of course) and you get that nice feeling of buying an Australian product.
I take it JMcCee you will be getting one to match the DE1+ ? I agree with your thoughts it visually looks a better match than their own grinder.

To clarify; Helor Stance is an Australian company. They are made here. What do they say about assuming?Originally posted by JMcCee View PostI meant the whole machined carrier assembly that attaches to the motor housing. I'm only assuming because the manual grinder is made in the U.S..
I saw the Motor in the flesh yesterday and tasted the espresso. I was very impressed.

I claim 1st dibs on the crappy old Mon Con when you decide to keep the HSM..Originally posted by samuellaw178 View PostJMcCee is right, I am testing one of their units, for almost a week now and after 1 kg+ of beans.
Very impressive! Will be sharing my thoughts once I get to sit down and actually do some writing.

I too am looking forward to the report as I am trying to decide if I can part with the $3500+ it would cost to land the mon con here. Helor cost certainly is an easier pill to swallow.

Great news, I couldn't think of a better person to do a comparison. Will be interested to hear both your opinions.

I meant the whole machined carrier assembly that attaches to the motor housing. I'm only assuming because the manual grinder is made in the U.S..Originally posted by Lyrebird View PostThe burr assemblies are stated to be ex Italmill (standard offering) or Mazzer (upgrade), both Italian.

Keep an eye out for Sam's review on HB. Maybe he'll syphon off something for snobs here. I assume the thing is made here as Sam had to go and pick it up but perhaps the burr assembly comes from Trumpland.

JMcCee, will be very interested to see your opinion of the grinder. There really isn't may reviews around of the base stance, little alone the motorised version.
Do you know where the Stance is made? They mention region and factory but without specifying. I think the motor looks locally made with an engineering company?
Will say I think the copywriting must be done by someone who is 18 and thinks anything without a webpage doesn't exist. The first geared manual grinder? I distinctly remember a wooden coffee grinder my mother had in the 70s with side handle which was geared, as she asked me to repair it. Very accurate it was too, put any coffee beans into it, set it to any setting and it would always produce random sized nuggets to use in her prized Cona machine.

Well, I have to say if Decent had done a grinder from scratch to pair up with the DE1 the HSM would likely fit the bill like a sausage in a well oiled wellington.. RoR.. In fact, off hand I cant think of another grinder that looks like it was made for it.
