  • Electric Grinder for Stovetop/expresso

After my Breville Smart Grinder Pro had an unfortunate incident between the power cord and a hot plate, I am wondering whether to merely replace or repair or go with a new/better grinder. Mainly use a Bialetti Stovetop fairly frequently so would very much prefer an electric grinder but if I was getting a reasonable grinder it would be good to have the option to not upgrade the grinder if we get a machine which may happen in the next year or two. Budget probably up to $400-$500 ish and happy to consider second hand.

    What about a Wilfa Svart?

It does a great job for anything from coarse / French press to fine mokka pot, stove top.

It does not go fine enough for espresso. There are grinders which can go all the way from Turkish to French press, but hey are usually expensive or you’ll waste a lot of coffee dialling in every time.

If you don’t have an espresso machine, the wilfa is a good option at under half of your budget.

      Hi,
I am looking to purchase WILFA Kaffeemühle Svart Nymalt, where did you get it from?
Planning to buy it from Amazon.
      Any recko?

      regards

Especially buying second hand, I think a Rancilio Rocky is a good, durable machine to have. It depends a little on what are your expectations for a future espresso machine.

Repairing the power cord should be pretty cheap. What's your location?

Newcastle NSW. Repairing harder than it sounds. I can 't find anywhere local and not quite game to do it myself.

If ever you're in western Sydney I'll do it for free/cost of parts (I'm a sparky). I feel like I have a couple of spare leads kicking around, but I just moved house so they're still in a box somewhere. Currently in Perth on holiday, back mid September. If you really want you can post it to me once I'm back.

Alternatively any appliance repair place should be able to do it. Try calling a few to get an idea of price, just tell them you need a 2-pin 10A lead and plug replaced on a coffee grinder.
