Just picked up a second hand Vario sold as faulty.
Physically it is in nice condition with only physical fault being a tiny crack at the base of the hopper near one of the tabs which connects to grinder base. Haven't had much time to test yet but did manage to plugin, power up and run the motor last night. The screens boots OK and I was able to get the motor to run. I did notice the top burr carrier is not aligned with the plastic tabs (I will take a pic tonight) there is probably 5-10mm between the metal tabs and the plastic tabs.
Previous owner said the motor kept cutting out during a timed grinding, then running intermittently.
It is a version 2 or 3 with ceramic burrs I think, year model is 2013 from the label on the bottom. It is an Australian built 240v model.
I did turn it upside down to take a photo of the label, reading online this can cause the burrs calibration to go out, so I have put that on my list to redo.
I have pulled apart a few commercial grinders (and the odd semi commercial or consumer machine) and cleaned before so I pretty confident I can pull it apart if required.
I did read a few threads with some good info from TampIt on here.
Current plans;
1. Do a reset of the burr calibration using a 2mm allen key per Baratza instructions
2. Do some testing and try to reproduce the cutout issue
3. If required full disassembly and clean (after 1 & 2)
Any help or suggestions welcome as to cause of motor cutouts?
