Good to see no one has pointed out any flaws, I’m still considering a K30 Vario Air or 2.0 sometime down the track, if I find a good price... or Anfim SP2...

I was lucky enough to come across a deal on a new PEAK grinder the other day and jumped at it. Expensive still, but far less than retail.
Have to say this thing is much bigger than I anticipated. I did measure it, but seeing it in the flesh it is quite imposing. Luckily I have plenty of room.
This is "only" my 3rd grinder, starting with a Breville grinder pro and moving to a Eureka Atom soon after. I still have the Atom and it is more than adequate, however the PEAK is quicker, quieter and the grinds are beautifully fluffy. I really love the design, hopefully I love cleaning it also... The Atom is super easy to clean.

Thanks for your reply.Originally posted by sharkroman View PostK30 I heard has some 5~10g retention, same as the Peak.
There is also a new K30 2.0 out in the market with a touch screen LCD, which seems to be the way Mahlkonig wants to update their entire product range with, so we might see an EK43 Barista with a LCD screen in the next few years.
Retention isn't really an issue for me. I don't intend on single dosing, although it is a high retention level. Probably not an issue in cafes where they are grinding all the time.
Yes, saw the V2. Sexy, but a little (completely) out of my price range....

Mahlkonig K30 opinions ?
Howdy,
Have the chance to get one at a "good" price. Obviously a well respected grinder, but I read "if you can live with it's idiosyncrasies" What exactly are they ?
I know it is really suited to a cafe environment, not so much home, but it is fast, quiet and an excellent performer.
So, apart from the price, what are the downsides ?
Cheers
