  • FIORENZATO F4 NANO ECO vs Macap M2M (new stepless model)

    Hi all,

Friend is looking to upgrade their Breville Smart Grinder and asked for recommendations around the $500 mark.

I quite like the M2M for domestic use, especially now that they have brought out the stepless version (which addresses my biggest gripe with the Macap that has me looking to upgrade my own one).

I've come across the Fiorenzato F4 Nano Eco in a local cafe. They look nice, have a digital touch display to control dose and a nice micrometric adjustment on the collar similar to a Mazzer.

I'm not sure which one would be the one to recommend?

The "Fiorenzato F4 Nano Eco" machines I've seen advertised come in at a lot more than $500.00...
    Are you talking used machines?

    Mal.

It seems to be a bit confusing - there are two models and the models seem to get mixed up a lot on sites. So far I've come across the following:

      - Fiorenzato F4 Nano Eco - $539 (same price seen in the local cafe selling them and online)
      http://fiorenzato.it/en/prodotto/f4-eco/

      - Fiorenzato F4 Nano Electric - $900 (from what I can see on the pictures online has a larger touch screen + panel with a different chute design)

(I hope the links are okay - they are the direct manufacturer links from Italy with no direct purchasing options)

I own the Macap M4D and the Fiorenzato F4e and while both of these are the next models up from the ones you mentioned, I would get the M2M. The Fiorenzato F4e is very staticy and messy grinder but it does give a good consistent grind/dose I feel the Macap is a better all round grinder from the point of view of retention and cleanliness. I am assuming that the low end models behave the same way

Well, talk about timely! I'm contemplating a motorised grinder again and those are two of the leading contenders. Although to be fair the M2D Macap is a closer price match to the Nano Eco F4....there was literally nothing objective about this machine that I've been able to find so appreciate your thoughts.

Well for what it’s worth, after a lot more research I bought the M2D from a sponsor. A few comments by owners of the Fiorenzato plus its physical size gave me pause - WAF a major consideration.
Only make two coffees a time and the compact, fuss free, commercial quality build had a lot to do with it. The timer function will make life a bit easier for SWMBO while I’m working away too.
