  • M4D - La Pavoni Europiccola

    Hey everyone,

Hoping for some pointers here. I've recently inherited a La Pavoni Europiccola bought in about 2008. I'm having a lot of trouble getting the grind right. I was wondering if anyone else is using an M4D as a grinder with the Europiccola and might be able to point me in the right direction for the grind and duration to use?

    Cheers

Only advice I would have in particular is that the La Pavoni's in general need an extremely fine grind.

I would see if you can get close to the point where you are choking the machine then dial it back a tad.

I loved my old La Pavoni (and is the reason why I am getting another!) but they can be fickle beast that needs and extremely fine grind. I find that the shots are usually very good but every now and then the stars align and produce something that is truly heavenly.
I find just a bit higher grind setting than choking the machine produces those thick syrupy shots which are to die for.

You want to aim for about 25ml in 30 seconds with a firm press of the lever (you shouldn't have to use your body weight to get it down). It takes a bit of practice but worth every second of it!
