Quick question regarding dosages; does anyone know if the learning gets reset when you change the amount? I upped one of the preset's dosage and still haven't quite got the money after a few shots and am wondering if I should do a preset reset or just be more patient [emoji12]
    That's great to hear johnnyg!

I have a strong suspicion that the learned dose does reset when you change it. Whenever I've changed the dose and set it to one of the buttons, the first dosing would be out by maybe 0.5g max. But after repeated uses it would normalise.

That's why I've actually set my dose ranges across the 3 buttons for what I may use for different beans. I think I have 1 at 21.5g, 2 at 22g, and 3 at 22.5g. I only use it for espresso so it works well. If I have to change say button number 3 to 23g, then I just accept it'll be not 100% for a little, but even so, the pulse function is amazing, love it. Use that to top it up slowly and easy done!

But if it hasn't settled yet it may be worth doing a preset reset, or updating the software possibly via Bluetooth.

I've ended up using the larger container that is supplied with the grinder to grind into, then pouring it into the basket.

No matter how I adjusted the forks and the hook, the coffee would mound up inside the outlet chute and give erratic output. Sometimes it would give the right amount, other times it would be 2-3g low.

With using the container it's been accurate every time so far.

Ah that is very interesting... I'd say maybe it's a combination of what depth/shape basket you're using (tapered wall?), the portafilter itself (some are actually much chunkier or taller than others) and perhaps the coffee itself.. I've never really had it go back up the chute except if it was a coffee that had heavy static production, the mound would be strangely taller and almost as though it wants to reach up and stick to the chute hehe.

I've used a lot of different baskets and handles at home and at work. E61, Breville BES920 and Sunbeam EM6910 handles mostly.

Using a VST straight wall 18gm at home and a Breville straight wall double shot basket at work. Have also used the Sunbeam tapered wall double shot basket as well. They all did the same thing, no noticeable improvement between them.

Maybe there was a combo of hook adjustment and arm adjustment that I hadn't tried. For now the container method is working and isn't all that inconvenient.

I just bought one of these; is the consensus that the reliability issues have been sorted?

Yeah, either that or the particular beans you're using have some static/fluffing up issue, but yeah exactly that's not an inconvenient method.

As far as I am aware. I did a BUNCH of research prior to buying, and also emailed Baratza asking this specifically and they said the issues from the older models have been ironed out in the 270Wi. But I can't be certain!

And yeah I have found that the much darker roasts tend to be more staticky for some reason. Ah which funnel are u using? I've got the Orphan Espresso dosing funnel, but not sure if I could get it to fit in the holder..
I made a funnel out of a kmart plastic cup; chopped off the bottom.
I am actually running on a delonghi ec685; did a bunch of mods so it uses unpressurised baskets etc, brings it closer to say a sunbeam EM.

When I'm hit with upgraditis, excited to see how much better the espressos will be. =D

I received my 270wi this morning from the crew at Alternative Brewing ordered on Sunday evening so I call that fantastic service. On opening the box I found a yellow sheet telling me my machine had been selected for further quality control before leaving the factory and may have some residue in it this doesn't bother me in the least but thought it worth asking the question if anyone else had the same thing?

Overall I'm pretty impressed with the machine so far love the scales and pretty bloody close on every grind so far but not quite. What I need to say is what a massive difference that the grind quality is when compared with my old Iberital Challenge also the Sette is quieter and much faster. I've got to say for someone with my skill level this machine takes away a lot of guess work which I can tell already will bring a lot more consistency to my brew.

Is it like customs quarantine but from manufacturers quality control?

Does it mean most units are going out without quality control check? (pardon my sarcasm)

Yep, I also got that yellow sheet too mate. And I'd probably assume all of them come with that, I don't think ours were specially selected which doesn't make much sense.

Ah awesome to hear, enjoy the grinder

Ok so something really weird happened yesterday with my sette...

I've had my grinder for just over 3 months and it normally grinds to exactly 18g (which I've set it to) but it's never more than .1 or .2g off.

Anyway yesterday morning I did the usual press play with the portafilter in and moved to doing other stuff except I noticed that after a little bit I could still hear the grinder going which wasn't right. I look over and it's overflowing but finally stops with the display showing 20.7g! The chute was also completely clogged with grounds which weighed about 8.8g when I cleared them out (there's normally 0.8-1.8g in the chute after a normal grind).

So this morning I paid more attention to it when doing the grind: it tares the portafilter (showing " - - -") but then as the grounds were coming out rather than displaying the weight it was just flashing "- 0.0". I stopped it and then held down the preset until it beeped (I thought this was doing a soft reset but apparently it) and then this time during the grind it also flashed "- 0.0" but then started showing the correct weight and finished bang on 18g.

So has anyone experienced anything like this before? I've read that the sette has had hardware issues in the past but this looks to be purely software (and couldn't seem to find anything in the manual about it).
I did update the display firmware to version 9.2.2 a few months ago so maybe it's a new bug introduced in that version?

Hmmm can't say that anything like that has happened to me!

Yeah I was gonna suggest doing another bluetooth display upgrade thing, I do mine every two months or so, regardless if there's any new updates I just still do it.

See if that fixes anything, oh and there is a way also to reset the presets... here we go have attached a screenshot. I'd do the soft reset just to give it a fresh slate and see if it helps. (Oh look, just found out in the manual you can also turn off the backlight... who knew!)

Otherwise Baratza have been super helpful with info when I've emailed them, so I'd give them or your supplier a go!

Just a little discovery, the "Burst" feature for topping up the grinds a tad isn't just for if your dose falls short of the target, you can use the pulse even if you hit the target dose.

Something that perhaps should have been obvious haha but I only just discovered it ;D.

Just do your normal dose, but if you wanna up the dose a little for some reason just to slow the shot flow a bit, just hit play and it'll do the short bursts for however many you need.

                              Whooowaahh!
