Baratza 270 motor rating

Possibly so, but the grinder is rated at 260W (for the 230V version) and most of this power is the motor. Given the size disparity to a properly rated 90W motor, I'm thinking it is part of what makes them so unreliable and this won't have changed with the new electronics.

Its actually the model number... the "W" means it also weighs as it grinds.

Maybe 270w refers to the viscosity of the grease in the gearbox

Baratza 270 motor rating
Sure is a troublesome breed. My brother is up to his fourth (ish?) replacement of his 270.
Luckily he has an old backup grinder as the need arises.
Only uses the 270 once a day on a coarse grind for a Brazen batch brew.
An unlucky run or bad parts / both ?
He’s fortunate to travel near the 5S distro on a regular enough basis and happily receives a bag of consolation coffee. Must be a pain for them having to process all of that.

No the motor on the right is the new pump motor for an old Izzo espresso machine I am using for experiments.
BTW It's no longer my 270, I gave it away after it failed prematurely and the local distributor wanted an arm and a leg for what should have been a simple fix.Last edited by Lyrebird; 8 February 2019, 12:27 PM.

Baratza 270 motor rating

Quote Baratza "This 270W grinder". Rating on right hand motor is 90W (hopefully legible in the pic).
In case it's not obvious, the motor on the right is sitting on a box to bring it to the same height as the Baratza motor for the pic.Last edited by Lyrebird; 19 January 2019, 11:58 AM.Tags: None
