I thought I'd post here as it seems to be a general issue with the Atom when adjusting grind but mine is the 60e and is brand new.
I had it happen to me today when I went from 3 to 2.5 roughly to go from my IMS basket back to the VST 15g basket.
The interesting thing is how it blocked for me...
The entire chute was blocked from top to bottom as well as the grind chamber. The entire length of the chute was PACKED. The only way this can happen is if enough grinds slow near the bottom of the chute and create a blockage which then backs up into the grinding chamber.
If it is the exit blocking on the 75 then it may be a different issue as in that case the chute would be fairly clear.
I know that this is the first post on this thread for six months...

There are those among us that feel the anti clumping/anti static screen/finger guard only serves to impede coffee flow, first thing I do is to remove the things, I note that Mazzer don't even show them in the parts diagram so cant consider them overly important, I've always considered it to be a finger guard, I'm sure the rotating burrs would give you a pretty severe nail trim if you were silly enough to stick a digit in the hole.Originally posted by level3ninja View PostYes this is normal for pretty much any grinder with a static screen. Without the coffee build-up forcing the grinds through the static screen it would not remove the static properly.
To be fair I live in an area of low humidity, perhaps clumping is a greater issue in humid area's.

Here is a photo of the grounds built up behind the static screen
And here's a thread I started about the differences between the chute designs:

Morning all, as a matter of interest there was a thread re the Atom started in November 2016 that went for 7 pages it covered much of what is being discussed here.

Marksosh, one thing I just remembered about the chute update is you can tell the difference between old and new by the screw points. The original has tabs or ears which stick out for the screws. The newer version, which ninja linked to, is more like a disc with two screw holes in it. Will allow you to work out if you have old or new when you clean it.

After rereading I just wanted to clarify, the build-up you were getting at the grille, was it before or after the grille?Originally posted by marksosh View PostAh hu, so i was stressing for no reason ? thanks for that , happy to know I didn't do anything wrong and now I won't dump the unused beans. It's bigger and beefier after the anti static screen, so having it block up is harder. I just got it in the mail from Coffee Parts today so if I get to it tomorrow I'll take some photos.
