my 2-cents worth... with my em0480 i use a dosing cup that sits up nice and close to the spout, 18g is about half way up the cup, i easily check the weight, and then transfer to my portafilter. no mess, little fuss great espresso!

I checked in case we were using different beans, def the same

interesting comment about the age though, we accidentally opened two bags at once so even though we keep the beans in the original 1kg silver foil packaging and roll and tape the bag closed it may be kicking around longer than usual
thanks for the link, may revert to the "yogurt cup" technique until we open a fresh bag

    cheers all

    FYI RH is 49%

Known problem with this grinder. Here's one solution:

Do you have any instrumentation in the house that gives you the RH (Relative Humidity) level? Air that is heated with no additional moisture added to it will have a lower RH which will also, if the RH is low enough, result in a higher static charge on the grounds. If it's not the RH that's the problem then odds are the cause lies in the beans themselves. How old are they? How have they been stored?

Hi, thanks for that suggestion it was a valid one
Melbourne's heat wave this morning reached about 8 degrees C, I left off the heater to check this theory and it was still spreading everywhere

    any other thoughts please?

Static charge due to lower humidity in your place because you're running your A/C more now would be a likely culprit.

Sunbeam EM0480 spreading ground coffee everywhere

    Hello all

it does this occasionally but its really annoying me lately
grinding into the basket its started going everywhere, almost like its clumping and not grinding out evenly, leaves the grinder base and bench top with coffee grounds everywhere

i just cleaned it out, removed the collar etc, did all this as per video https://youtu.be/Kbu5JRH9QbU

    any other suggestion please?

its the same coffee we always get....

    cheers
Working...
