I think you are right: I just checked it using the procedure in your link and the motor changes note at 1H to 1I, which is in the expected range. Evidently my problems above were operator error.

Fair enough, they all come with that sticker here, and most i've seen have a small hole where the owner or a tech has put a 2mm allen key sized hole in it to adjust it. If it still works for normal espresso range, they may just say it is ok . Going finer than that may damage the grinder anyway ? it's not a huge motor

Thanks, this is a Mahlkoenig and it has a sticker over that screw hole saying "Warranty void if seal removed".

My main problem is that I now can't get the grind fine enough to work with the experimental filter papers so I might just leave it for now (it still works for an ordinary espresso).

If it gets any worse I'll send it back.

    Mahlkoenig Vario Zero adjustment

Does anybody have a guide / resource on how to adjust the zero point on a Mahlkoenig Vario? This thread mentions that it is doable but not in the manual.

Mine is in need of adjustment after about six months use; I was away from home for a week and the adjustment was distinctly different when I got back. It is thus possibly due to mishandling (not that I'm blaming anyone honey).
