Unless you’re wedded to the idea of doing it as a restoration project, throwing 600 bucks at it would probably be throwing good money after bad.

That money would go a long way towards a quality new or lightly used grinder that will give you many years of service.
Agree with herzog as there are probably a lot of companies out there, like ourselves, who rebuild grinders and sell them reconditioned with new blades too Cimbali has always had a bit of a reputation for costly and difficult to source parts. If you would like to contact us with a picture of your grinder, I could check if any of our blades are interchangeable and cheaper for you?

I don't believe the machine is "clapped out". Just dirty from 10+ years without a clean. The motor runs fine. All parts are intact except the broken tamper (I can live with that). The burrs maybe could do with replacement. When I purchased it I googled cimbali burrs and saw posts talking about $100-150. I paid $115 for the machine so am happy to spend $150 for new burrs, not $600.

No, I was going about it the right way. I now have access to computer file as well as URL. Maybe I was too quick to try and upload a picture after getting 5 posts.

OK Previous post shows picture of the black ball on top of the shaft (was going to say black knob but it just didn't feel right!). The machine seems identical to other MD6 posts except for this. How do I remove the ball the access the nut holding the burr holder to the shaft?

Will post an image of the whole machine this weekend.

At least it can be cleaned up.

Or repurposed as a boat mooring.

Not as clear though. Back to my original post, any ideas on how to remove the black ball from the shaft?

I would try a spanner on the nut and some rubber or something grippy on the ball with your hand
