OK. I have had this grinder since getting more serious about fresh coffee with my Sunbeam Ristretto. I have never used it on anything else - until today. It has been at work and today the EM6910 made its way into work for some serious at work caffeine. I had previously modded the KG in the expectation that one day I would have to use it for unpressurised baskets. I used some 5 day old Indian Tiger Mountain.
I ground on the finest setting and then stuffed the standard sized EM baskets as full as an egg...dose hard taps, dose hard taps (doing this as much as possible beause the grind didnt feel in the fingers as fine as it should be) etc and then gorilla tamp....stick it in the head, and the shot is a nice colour (not as dark as it should be though) and the crema is fairly thick, but blonded quickly and had to pull it at 15 seconds.
Now I reckon that the south american beans I have roasted seem to require a coarser grind and give off bucket loads of crema, so I reckon that this combo will be just fine for those beans, but it shows what everyone told me originally that it the little KG/166 struggles with a proper machine. I didnt taste what was in the cups actually because 2 colleagues jumped on the action, but they were very impressed and they normally drink pretty good coffee from local coffee shops.
Cheers
