  • Macap M4 vs Mazzer Mini

    Hiyas
Im after comments regarding the two units mentioned,
I can buy new macap for price of used mazzer, anything on either that anyone has experienced that says
I love that unit or i hate that unit more than international roast?
After a dosing unit an not a rocky.
Want to pull trigger on comm type grinder this week.
Youll have my eternal gratitude or if local coffee bought for you in return!

    Thanks cs’ers

    Hi:

I have owned the M4D and it was a good grinder.

The Mini has been repeatedly attacked on this forum and others but if it were my money I would go for the Mini. I like the bulletproof build, simplicity and the very big burrs (if you buy the Electronic) they are 64mm burrs.

I like dosers too like on my Robur but having had both, I could go either on demand or doser. Dosers can result in fewer clumps if that is important and it is dead easy to time it to suit and just click clack.

I think the doser versions of both are 58mm burrs.

The Mini E is criticised for long grind times but this makes little sense as it has a portafilter holder and the time it takes to grind goes both ways, speed versus coolness.

Again overall I like the Mazzer design and the looks.

Thanks for that, grind time isn't an issue for me if it works, I did have a dosing grinder back in 07-08 think it was a cunhill variety, I just recall seeing macap and mazzer mentioned a lot in the past, have been trying to go thru posts but wanted more upto date versions.
      Appreciate the reply cheers!

You will get widely differing opinions here which is fine. Honestly whichever way you go, it will be fine, these are both excellent grinders.

I got my Robur (massive) cheap, $1100 brand new and I think that the bigger the burrs the better even if it increases grind retention. I think at 64mm though, the burrs are pretty meaty and will give a very high quality grind.

Yep, that's in Super Jolly territory and they are, as Wattgn mentioned, bullet-proof too.
You see them come up from time to time in the 4-Sale section so might be worth monitoring...

              Hi Sullo,

              Enjoy the new Mini.

I think they are a great buy and will last decades. I like the stepless adjustment, looks and build of these grinders.
