Hedgeus,
If you are in Melbourne we are more then happy to have a quick look at this for you.
We have sold 100s of the M2Ms and they are an extremely reliable unit with very few if any issues.
I am with Caffinator here, there would probably have been a good case to have this done under warranty given it is a one year old grinder. A shame you couldn't track down the place of purchase
Cheers
Antony

Hedgey as I see your online atm -
Did you compare the old burr set with the new replacement set..
side by side before replacing?
If not can you do that now?
Confirming all the above posts you should have no reason to disassemble the body / motor.
All that should be required is remove top collar inspect grind chamber.
and go from there.
GL
Edit:PS Ive just read the latest posts ...so I'll stay out of it

Thank you, absolutely agree, had no intention, but could not find the receipt, then started with simple things like cleaning and new burrs, and the rest was like like show ball.

Hi, thank you so much, sad news about Vario, may I ask to email the address to: vladasau@yahoo.com.auOriginally posted by level3ninja View PostYou'd be far better off taking it back to whoever you bought it off, or a Melbourne based site sponsor (such as Casa Espresso above) than selling it for parts. If you're going to throw it out send it to me in Sydney and I'll see if I can get it going (industrial electrician). If I can I'll send it back to you for the cost of parts + postage.
P.S. just so you're aware Mahlkoenig are stopping production of the Vario but say parts will be available

Agreed. This is a real go figure for me.
You have/had a grinder which is supposedly not operating properly. You had Australian Consumer law on your side. Rather than simply return it to the place of purchase and have them check and repair it for you or refer it back to the importer for assessment and/or repair, you create a box of bits??
Seems to me that's how you blow $575. It was covered by warranty but not for almost complete disassembly by an end user, so I'd bet that is no longer the case.
Might I suggest that perhaps it's best that you don't fiddle with the new one?

I gave up. Will sell my Macap m2m for parts or it will go to rubbish bin.
The ONLY video I found how to dismantle Macap m2m or m4m grinder is useless. It skips the MOST important/difficult part - how remove/put back the motor. Demonstrator does not show how he takes it out, and just magically slides motor in - like in animation movie. Not honest video.
I found that you can't touch Macap's motor without special know-how. You need to be trained for that plus lots of physical strength plus special tools which you can't find even in motor mechanic's garage.
No more Made in Italy, thank you. Wasted $575 just in one year. Getting German design / Swiss made Mahlkonig Vario instead.
Thanks to everyone for suggestions.

Check the burrs are the right orientation, they sometimes come in clockwise or antclockwise versions. They should be cutting into the beans with the edges. Worth checking.

Hi Artman,
Thank you so much for reply.
Motor spin strong with no beans, and even with beans spin strong as well - till it suddenly stops.
Motor definitely spin clockwise (when you look at it from the top).
I tried to start course, spin well, but nothing is coming out - till it suddenly stops. Then I open the chamber and can see it is full of very fine grind.
As if burrs work in opposite to normal direction - sucking in (but there is only one way to install burrs).
Looks puzzle to me...
Bought online, cant recall the place, it may take whole day to find a receipt.

That would be very odd for the motor to fail after one year, these things are robust and very simple.
If the burr chamber and exit chute are clear and you are starting and very coarse grind I am stumped why the grinds are so fine?
Have you contacted the place you bought it from to see if they can help?
Cheers

Thank you Yelta and everyone!
I checked the link, they service Sydney (I am in Melbourne).
Also I spent $$ on new burrs and capacitor, and it looks like now the only viable option is to replace/fix the motor.
Found only 1 video which shows a motor on YouTube for different model, but still it skips access details.
Awaiting for quality Viha small hex keys ($23 only) as normal hex keys fail.

Hi Caffeinator,
Many thanks for reply.
Throat (=shoe?) I cleaned several times with flexible very thick metal wire, you can even see through it, but before coffee comes out, it is already complete blocked, and chamber full as well. Everything getting quickly cluttered regardless settings - fine or coarse. By powder I mean very fine grind, not quite like talc - you still can feel with fingers smaller than sand pieces.

My thoughts:
99.9% likelihood that you have a blocked throat on the grinder unless you have previously cleared it. Vacuuming around the burr set is insufficient. The tell-tale is the "powder" you describe- which I'd guess is talc-like?
Google service Macap M2 or grinder #101 and then use a skewer or similar to clear all coffee.
Reassemble, adjust and then use it. You're welcome.
