Thanks Ronin, I didn't really have too much of a budget in mind but i guess I really don't want to spend more than $1,500 on my first set up

Hi Jimbob
Might be a good idea to suggest your budget.
There might be other options you haven’t come across as yet

If you go down the rabbit hole of “coffee snobbery” you are more likely than not going to ask yourself “why didn’t I spend that extra $???” for what I really wanted..... try to buy right, buy once. Yes to the Macap

I looked at the silenzio but I think she is probably out of our price range, already having a bit of a hard time trying to justify the price of the m2m to myself, almost got a breville smart grinder, but I dont think I will be super happy with itOriginally posted by wattgn View PostThe Eureka Mignon Silencio would be my choice. I use the M2M for espresso and highly recommend it. I don't think any grinder would be over kill. Get the best you can get, you can always upgrade your machine later down the track and stick with a rock solid grinder.

Sounds like a fairly decent plan to me. The M2M has a small footprint and comes in 'stepless' adjustment and 'stepped' adjustment options. It's certainly not overkill for the Breville. If you are exclusively going to make espresso-based drinks, I'd go for the stepless model. If you going to regularly alternate b/w espresso and say filter or plunger coffee, go for the stepped model.

I don't have either of the items, but I think most people here would consider the Macap a solid, consistent and reliable grinder, certainly not overkill for the Breville, which many reports suggest is capable of making excellent coffee.

First machine and grinder.
Hi team,
I have been looking through the forum for a few days now trying to decide on my first espresso machine and grinder, I was originally leaning towards a rancillo silvia and rocky grinder but from all reports they have fallen behind the times.
I have now pretty much decided on a breville dual boiler and probably a Macap m2m grinder.
Is the grinder overkill if we are looking at making 2-4 milky coffees a day sometimes more on weekends.
TIA for any help and advice.Tags: None
