Have had my Pro700 and Specialita for a bit over a year now, damned awesome combination of grinder and machine. The grinder is nice and quiet and awesomely stable in shot quantity and grind.

HI, I've ended up going with the specilita. I also went for the Decent as well, so I feel like I'm about to dive into a deep deep rabbit hole.
Thanks for all the help.

Have a look at the Profitec P64 as well. Pigeon pair for your espresso machine and 64 mm burrs .

Second the specialita. Upgraded from a mazzer mini electronic and very happy. It’s fast, solid and quiet. Really easy to dial in. Only thing is my wife hates that it’s square. She preferred the mazzers rounded appearance.

I would get the Eureka Mignon Specialita. Great grinder.
I had it, sold it but still think it is as good or better than the Atom in most respects. The Atom is built a bit more commercial but the Specialita is plenty tough enough and can single dose well. A bonus is it isn't too expensive.

I've recently been through the same choice as you - pairing a new grinder with my new Profitec Pro-700.
My previous machine/grinder set up was a Unico Splendor HX with a Macacp M4 doser model.
After much agonising I ended up with a Niche Zero - primarily because I exclusively single dose.
For me, the good things about the Niche: Very low retention. Great price for the quality of grind.
The not so good things: I live in a climate (Hobart) subject to lots of cold, dry winds which I've discovered leads to major static issues from the Niche (which weren't an issue in my Macap) - resulting in awkward, messy dosing (despite RDT etc).
Also, I've learnt that both my wife and I prefer the flavour profile from the Macap's flat burrs for our favourite medium to dark roasts. The Niche's conical burrs produce results which are not as rich and smooth - to our palates.
Please understand the static criticisms relate solely to where I live and how the grinder works for ME in my location. I accept other locations won't suffer the same issues.
If you live in a region not subject to similar climatic conditions and you like the conical burr flavour profile, the Niche is a brilliant grinder.
For what it's worth, that's my 2 cents.Last edited by splashalot; 30 March 2020, 02:26 PM.

You’re looking at a pretty slick machine, I’d suggest an excellent grinder to match.
Do you have any particular requirements?
A lot of people like to single dose, I’ve just received a Lagom P64 that I am very happy with. The Niche zero is very popular, and is well priced.

Help me to pair a grinder with my new machine
I'm about to buy a new machine, probably the Profitec Pro 700. I started a thread asking for opinions over here.
I want to pair a grinder with it. I do mostly piccolos, likely 3 or 4 a day but some days of doing a batch of coffee for co-workers.
So small doses and I like consistency. I last bought a grinder about 5 years ago, an ANFIM that was great. It went with the Expobar Brewtus / Minore IV but I had to leave that behind in Australia.
I'd love a quick primer about what I should be looking at for a small volume but high quality grinder to be sued only for espresso. I don't mind spending the money and know that a grinder is important. The only other brand I know is Mazzer, but they always seemed to be aimed at higher volume users.
Thanks for you help !
