Yep I use a similar method but also used a toothbrush to clean the burrs and pull a papertowl through the chute to clean remaining grind out.
It produces a great grind but what really annoys me is there is always a clump of coffee left in the chute and it takes a good whacking on the back to get it out.
Thinking of upgrading already to something that doesn't retain so much grind.

I have the same grinder and do the following after I put about a bag of beans through it:
- vacuum the chute using a small keyboard vacuum attachment. Its amazing at how much the chute retains.
- remove and wash the hopper (un screw the 2 screws holding the plastic guard in place and remove)
- find the locking grub screw. It's in one of the grinder position holes on the top. Use an allen key and unwind this. This will allow you to remove the top of the grinder.
- wash and dry the top half
- vacuum out the chamber
That's pretty much it. I've been putting "grindz" through it and it certainly does help clean it, so the above process now is after every 2-3 bags for me.
Cheers

Never mind all sorted, stared at it for a while until it succumbed to my intelligence!
So far the difference in taste between grinding with the porlex and isomac is huge. As new porlex will be for sale soon : )

Re: Isomac Granmacinino Cleaning Instructions????
Ahh, excellent point. The Isomac came from De Bartoli. I guess a smart guy would have asked them first. I guess I need another coffee to get the brain ticking! Then Id better call De Bartoli.

Isomac Granmacinino Cleaning Instructions????
I need help! Ive just acquired an Isomac Granmacinino grinder. Love the grinder, hate the useless instruction booklet that has English as about 17th language and provides exactly zero cleaning instructons. I assume its not self-cleaning (Im being sarcastic!) so does anyone out there have a set of English cleaning instructions that could be emailed or faxed? Or, alternatively, tell me where I might find them myself?
Thanks
TC
