Re: GOOD PRICE FOR A ROCKY
The strength of the Oz dollar against the greenback is almost (I said ***almost***) irrelevant in the coffee equipment scenario.
You need to look at the strength of the Oz dollar in comparison to the euro, which doesnt vary anywhere near as much.
Also, the price of italian made coffee equipment has been increasing markedly in the past few years most of it due to the rises in the cost of the main raw materials to the equipment manufacturers.....that would be in the main, stainless steel, copper and brass.
In any case, the exchange rate is not that relevant...it goes up and down, and we roll with it. What is relevant is one month we pay X euro for a rocky on import, and a couple of months later we pay X euro plus 5 or 10% or whatever.
That was the case at the end of April this year when the factory passed on the increase to us.
Our next shipment lands in a couple of weeks...and there will be plenty of stock.
Hope this helps.

Re: GOOD PRICE FOR A ROCKY
Thats true - street prices for Sylvia and Rocky are still pretty reasonable despite the RRP rise.

Re: GOOD PRICE FOR A ROCKY
Not so. An increase of 5% was not passed on last year. It has been passed on now. Keep in mind also that purchases of this sort of stuff occur months before the items actually hit ground...Originally posted by tempestv8 link=1192050240/0#3 date=1192504461Wow, why should there be a price rise? The Aussie dollar has never be stronger in the last 23 years compared to the greenback.
Me thinks profit margins are getting fatter.....
Grinder margins on the Rocky are so slim, its barely worth bothering with them. FYI a Silvia and Rocky should be $1300 but street prices are way below that. I wouldnt be complaining too much :-?

Re: GOOD PRICE FOR A ROCKY
I would say a "good" price would be anything less than the RRP, no?
When I bought mine the RRP was $439.00 but there was a price rise recently and I think theyre up in the $460s now.
