Cant comment on the differences, perceived or otherwise, between the results in the cup between a domestic conical and my current LSM SM-90A, as I havent had both accessible at the same time. But, I did have an as new Rocky to compare side by side with the LSM and the difference in the cup was quite astonishing
.And it wasnt just me either. Tried some Single Blind cupping experiments with my sons and a couple of friends and to a person, they all recommended the pours made using the LSM. To my palate, it seemed as if the brew had taken on a broader perspective in that individual flavours were much more easily separated and identifiable, much more body and the enjoyment of the cup was terrific all the way through to almost lukewarm (dont normally do this).
I wasnt expecting there to be any noticeable differences between the two grinders to begin with, since both use the same basic design and construction but, the differences were there and very noticeable. Dont know if the same quantum of difference would be noticeable between the LSM and a good commercial conical (maybe the law of diminishing returns starts to exert its influence) but it would be an interesting exercise just the same....
