Re: Mazzer Super Jolly - grinder for life?

I have 2 MSJs that I acquired about 3 years ago. These grinders were used in a commercial setting for 17 years before falling into my hands. Per the original owner the only thing that was ever done to them was replacing the burrs. One is off to the side as a backup grinder and the other has been in daily use here since its acquisition.

Even after 2 decades of use these grinders continue to perform flawlessly and yield consistent results.

A grinder for life? More like a grinder for multiple generations.

if they are the real deal and not some copy, $685 is a bargain for a new SJ
I can confirm they are the real deal. The seller imports them directly. Not sure how he gets them so cheap though... Perhaps the importer that supplies retailers are taking a nice $$ cut... who knows... but I do know that they are genuine.

        1. much MUCH quieter
        2. much quicker
        3. more consistent grind...dont know why, but with the Tre Spade, shot times were all over the place from day to day
        4. much easier to change the grind settings (Tre Spade has stepless worm thread adjustment so takes forever!)
        5. to me, seems to take the sharpness out of the coffee..much smoother resulting coffeee
        6. doesnt cause interference with the telly!!
        7. does not look huge if you leave the hopper off (tamper in throat)
        8. built like a brick sh!thouse...should last forever in domestic use
        Importantly, 1+2+6=happy household !!!
        Negatives:
        1. Doser throws to the left quite badly = messy....can be overcome with modification which I will do one day along with the doser tape mod!!
        Yep, spot on... Agreed

Re: Mazzer Super Jolly - grinder for life?

Just got two delivered today and can say they are legit. Although I had the polished aluminum last time I wanted the silver/grey this time as the last one became a little tarnished on the side facing the old San Marino, perhaps had it to close.

Removed the guard straight away and put the plastic tamps straight back into the box and rann some not so greatly home roasted coffee through the grinder.

The manual timed switch is a novelty atm but I plan on finding out how much exactly one timed session doses. Atm it looks about 30-40grams, anyone else in the know? It may be frustrating sometime in the future in a commercial setting but its what I want atm as Im planning on grinding on demand as per the orders come in.

So Im thinking one for House Blend, one for Single Origin and maybe a investment into a smaller grinder for decaf or running it through a deli grinder on demand.
