Re: Which grinder to get for a $300 budget?
Yes there is - I upgraded to the Iberital Challenge from a Sunbeam EM0480. The Sunbeam is stepped and each step changes the pour by about 5 seconds. The Iberital is stepless and offers infinte grind adjustment so you can make minute changes and dial in the grind for that perfect shot.
It comes down to budget really. If you have $300, you can pick up an Iberital (or for $240 pick up mine :-)). Its the bare minimum for espresso as it offers inifinite grind adjustment.
If you dont have $300, you can get the Sunbeam. You will not be able to dial the grinder in precisely as the steps are too large.

What about the cheaper sunbeam ones, is there a BIG different between them and the Iberital Challenge/Ascaso i-mini?

Re: Which grinder to get for a $300 budget?
Hi Fred,Originally posted by freddiman link=1204607882/0#0 date=1204607881I am posting this question for my friend really...
so heres the story, hes got a breville 800(with the non-pressurized basket) and the crappy grinder that came with it. The grinder wouldnt grind fine enough for the 30ml 30 sec mark. Therefore he is looking for a grinder with a $300 budget.
I showed him the few grinders that is within the his budget and he likes the iberital challenge. However, I have not much knowledge about it, so just wondering if anyone have tried them out and can tell me how they perform, or if anyone can suggest any grinder better within the $300 budget.
Thanks,
Fred ;D
At that price point Id suggest that you could also look at the Ascaso i-mini. I believe its a worthy competitor to the Iberital and both are available form quite a few CS sponsors. DiBartoli and Talk Coffee are two which come to mind.
Good luck
Chris
