  • looking for grinder!

Hi! Im looking for a deli grinder but something with a bit of character. Something that is italian designed but doesnt look like a square box. Similar to ones made in the early seventies. Ive tried petroncinis website but you cant view any of their products. Could anyone lead me in the right direction? Does anyone have one for sale? Im using it for a shop so it is going to sit on the front counter.
    Thanks.

      Re: looking for grinder!

I have an M5 and can recommend a Macap.
Quiet too compared to other grinders Ive used.
Might help you hear the customers.

        Re: looking for grinder!

Have just purchased a macap m4d from Chris at Talk Coffee. This is my first grinder so I cant rate its relative performance but can give some feedback. Its quiet and very easy to use and keep clean; theres little wastage in the grinder chute or doser chamber. There has been no clumping. On top of its obvious performance qualities it is a very stylish and well finished piece of coffee bling, it looks cool on the bench next to the mondiale and doesnt dominate the coffee machine.
On the down side: I have reconstituted stone bench tops and this grinder may as well be on wheels! Have a temporary fix but will go to Bunnings and see what I can find..... The only other criticism is the plastic "bib" in front is way too small; looks like it was late friday in the design studio!! Im inclined to overcome this with a cassetto under it and take the "bib" off. The doser doesnt throw very far but you d think they couldve got a crayon and drawn a circle on the bench around the grounds to see what was required!! I understand from Chris and other sources that the Compak K10 WBC is the bees knees for home or small cafe but with my current set up I can easily withstand upgraditis (esp. with the price difference) for a year or two!!!......... Im very happy with the macap, thank you Chris!!!

          Re: looking for grinder!

I got rid of the "bib" ages ago and use a cork tile in its place.

          Its a minor con.

              Hi Genrex,

Ive sent you a private message (through coffeesnobs) giving you the name and contact details of my friend who is selling her 2 month old Macap. This is the same person Chris from Talk Coffee is referring to. She isnt a coffeesnobs member so she asked me to post this on her behalf.

              Cheers, Mary
