Hey Weathdan, dont know if youre interested in secondhand, but theres one for sale in the Coffee Hardware for Sale section. Its in Melbourne, too. No affiliation, but it sounds OK to me.

It is the 21st of June.

Has anyone seen any stock of these machines in Melbourne? I saw some at DJs about 2 weeks ago but now they have run out.

    Any other ideas?

If anyone in Perth is looking for a EM0480, I noticed at Big W Riverton yesterday they had 4 on the shelf at $187 (thats each I assume LOL).

The grind settings on the EM0480 vary massively from machine to machine..... A given size of grind might be 12 on one machine and 5 on another.....

Basically the scale is meaningless.... other than for you to return your machine to the same setting each time.... but machine to machine (and that is true to an extent with most grinders)..... forget it!!!

You will need to set your grinder up to the correct setting by trial an error when you get it - there is no shortcut method other than to waste some beans!

I find that 6-7 works best on the Gaggia, have managed to choke it using a grind of 5 and heavy tamping. I have done the OPV mod though, before I got the EM0480. Varies a bit by bean types.

    Hi
I am going to buy an EM 0480 tomorrow from Big W in Woden in the ACT. Saw them today at $188 each - they had plenty.
What sort of espresso machine do you have. I have heard mixed reports that the Sunbeam can be hard to use effectively and learn on.
I have a Gaggio Classic. Any suggections for the grind using the Gaggio?
    regards

Just got one from David Jones at the Glen.

It didnt sell out as it was priced at AUD220.

However, there is a "sale" on now and there was a reasonable discount. bringing the price down to AUD186.

    Very good customer service.

Gotta admit i was quite put off by The Good Guys even though they did promise me a price of AUD180.... but i would have to wait a couple of weeks and make another trip to dandenong for that.

So far, im happy with the machine. I find that Grind 16 is ideal for my pressurized basket.

There is 15% sale at DJ atm. I bought one last Friday and paid only $186. Slightly more than GG or Retravision but none of these places have stock until June.
