    Re: Faema Family dosing grinder

Thanks for the replies.  I managed to take it apart without breaking anything!  I found no less than a pound of ground coffee inside the base (along with a few beans) LOL.   I guess it was indeed time for a cleaning.  Having never touched new burrs, I still suspect its time for replacement.  Do the leading edges of new burrs feel sharp to touch?  These dont appear worn but they are certainly not sharp either.   Heres a pic of the exact model btw.

    Hi Gary,

I eventually found some pics of the family grinder (took a bit of searching around) to see if it looks roughly the same as mine, and it looks fairly different. bummer.

Im actually taking mine apart again to repolish the base and other metal sections - effectively the whole thing - and should take some pics whilst im at it. Finished the base last night, looks much better than the slightly stained matt finish it had before.

Its a long shot, but maybe some pics of my teardown will help you out - surely the grinders cant be *that* different??

    Faema Family dosing grinder

I know Ive seen somones rundown on cleaning one of these here on this site but for the life of me, I cant find it now.
This thing has never been torn down since the late 80s so I know it would really love a good clean-up.

Anyone know where the post is located or possibly perhaps point me towards a good site that explains the tear down?

    TIA
