  • Grinder CS group order from China

    Hi Boys and girls,

    http://www.heycafe.com/home.html

Im in the process of ordering a few grinders from these guys. I have settled on the "semi auto" timed model.

It look and feels like a Mazzer Mini.

If any CSer is keen for one I will add your order to mine. I only need 50 units. I need to order 72 to take advantage of the wholesale price.

Today the quoted price is very good(sub$350 before shipping), PM me and Ill fill you in on the specs etc.

Interesting.....Spec wise, it looks more like a SJ clone to me? :-? Interesting though

Presumably, shipping, import duty and GST would need to be added?

      Looks pretty solid at 15kgs

How does it compare to grinders in its class?

I agree, looks like an SJ. At that price, why not buy two, one for you and one for the cat? ;D

5min timer - does it look robust, take a lot of use? How about the doser, any impressions?

How does the grind adjuster work compared to Mazzer?

        Looks very interesting CP.

Lots of testing to do boys...

Im yet to get my hands on the sample but I will know later.

Shipping, customs etc will be added to the cost once the bill comes in.

Payment will have to be made up front with no guarantee of delivery date(but you do get a cracking grinder for half the price Ill be selling it for at Xmas time!)

Im hoping we can order before the end of the financial year.

Note I thought in the PDF specs it only lists USA voltage.
Would want to be sure they supply 240v version to Aus.

Apart from that, potentially a bargain, if quality is same as the original.

Yes - Id like to know about the voltage as well.  Other than that it looks like it has a lot of potential.  I found a user review on the web.

Ill have to run it by the boss as I bought a grinder 6 months ago (Its no good for espresso - Bodum Antigua)

                Thanks for the responses guys,

If you are interested, can you email me? I only check the CS site in the morning.

                infoatcoffeeprincedotcom

Looks like the order will now be for at least 150 units, this will bring the freight cost down considerably.

Interesting news from the factory....a major name European Grinder company bought half of the last production run outright. Looks like we may see a rebadged one on the store shelves for Xmas!

                Regards,
                Cameron

What about warranty, and can we have a firmer indication of price? I.e. <$500 including shipping, tax, customs duty etc?

And will all the colours be available? Im liking the look of the orange one a lot! Specs look pretty good too if they stack up.

                      Hi all
In China the voltage is 220V 50Hz and here its 240V 50 Hz. That 20V difference means the motor will be running faster and may run hotter. For selling here they would really need to use a motor designed for, i.e. wound for, 240V.

                        Mike,

Just about all motors used in grinders are synchronous.... the speed determined by the frequency of the mains - not the voltage....

So if they are designed for 50 Hz.... the speed would be the same (if designed for 60 Hz..... then they would rotate at 5/6ths the speed - and overheat - so stay away!!!!!...)

However if designed for 220V and run on 240V this will increase the heat dissipation in the motor (and might shorten its life..... marginally)....

                          Correct.

Speed (in RPM) = (120 x frequency) / number of poles

Hi Snobs, the Australian mains voltage is moving towards a standard 230 Vac @ 50 Hz .Those with electric stoves and water heaters may have noticed the difference .

                              Hi all
Thanks for the info on the motors JavaB and aedion, particularly the equation. CoffeeSnobs is fortunately full of geeks :-) Looks like the sino grinder would be fine here. I had seen quite a few articles in electronics mags about the shift in our voltage standard here to harmonise with the world standard for 230V/50Hz distribution systems.
