cheapet Minimazzer pricing I can see in NZ is around $800 new, dont know about the SJ, they seem to come in 2nd hand around $500 - 800 or so on trademe. Ofcourse, is a $600 punt on an unproven machine better value than a $800 time proven machine, who knows

Seeing this thread reminded me to mention that I had seen one of these
in action on a recent trip to China. The result was a very nice espresso.
It is certainly a solid piece of equipment, and as noted above looks more
of an SJ clone. Cant say if the burrs are interchangeable, but wouldnt
be surprised if they are, in fact I think its likely.

Query: Are the burrs interchangeable with Mazzer burrs?

2mcm, on the first page of this thread you suggested that this might be more of a Super Jolly clone, than a mini. So, in your opinion, should we be comparing prices with this and the mini or this and the SJ? Because if its the SJ, the difference in price is significantly more than $100. Of course, if youre just comparing the price with any Mazzer, then youre right about the very small price differential - hardly seems worth it then...
Oops- my goof :-[ Had forgotten it was closer to SJ spec

did this ever get off the ground and has anyone actually played with one in the flesh?

There are some that have started to turn up on the NZ auction site Trademe, and pricing seems pretty good ($580 for the manual to around $680 for the full auto).
    Hmm....$100 less than a Mazzer....That sounds like a bargain to me :

Can you tell us if youve actually used this grinder or seen it in the flesh (or steel in this case)? Hard to take a punt on a grinder sight unseen.

Stuff from China can be...well, you pay for what you get really.

    Thanks ,

    Hi again,

The factory has responded to the voltage/plug issue.

They are familiar with our requirements and will deliver accordingly.

Thanks again for all the emails, no solution to the warranty issue until the Hey Cafe people agree to agent/distribution paper work.

I hope to stock burrs and hoppers but will have to negotiate service and replacement part details.

Order will not be finalised until the first quarter of the new year with a potential delivery date pre xmas. You know however what they say about the best laid plans....

    More later

That is a decent power supply small fluctuations are perfectly normal. Large fluctuations on the other hand...

So, lucky the motors are synchronous...

What was I saying about a decent power supply? :-[

In any case I wouldnt be too worried about the exactly supply voltage youre getting out of the wall, the Australian "standard" is 230V AC +10%/-6% @50Hz... This means that the voltage could be anywhere from 216.2V - 253V and still be within the allowable tolerances :-/

Well, at least that part of the world with a decent power supply...

    Hi all
Thanks for the info on the motors JavaB and aedion, particularly the equation. CoffeeSnobs is fortunately full of geeks :-) Looks like the sino grinder would be fine here. I had seen quite a few articles in electronics mags about the shift in our voltage standard here to harmonise with the world standard for 230V/50Hz distribution systems.
